I started climbing two years ago at my local climbing gym, Planet Rock. When I started climbing, I thought it was just going to be something to do every Monday after school, little did I know that in a couple of months climbing was going to become my life.

I have been riding dirt bikes since I was only three years old. A few years ago my family and I flew out to Las Vegas for a huge motocross race. Of course the race was a ton of fun, but the best part of the trip was when we went camping in the Valley of Fire State Park; which is in the heart of the Red Rocks.

While we were in the Red Rocks, I was amazed by all the boulders. My cousins and I  would scramble up and down the rocks all day. We would take fall after fall. There was a part of me who wanted to give up, I was so frustrated. But at the same time, there was a part of me who wanted to get to the top. My determination took over me. The first time I made it to the top, I was more than excited. The feeling was amazing.

The moment I made it to the top of that first boulder is when I knew that I wanted to start climbing. It was a challenge but so much fun at the same time. I loved the feeling of accomplishment when I reached the top of the boulder. My heart was racing from the adrenaline and my arms were shaking with excitement and the serious forearm pump that I started to notice three seconds later. I didn’t want it to end.

I can’t imagine my life without climbing. I climb almost five days a week, every week. Climbing made a huge impact on my life. I have traveled to many cool places and met tons of cool people. I can’t wait for spring so we can take cool trips to Kentucky! That trip to Vegas made a huge impact on my life. I don’t know where I would be without climbing!
