I have been in a culinary mood of sorts recently, so for my blog I thought I would share this recipe that I have been working on while getting ready for my half marathon this weekend.
Power Ginger Smoothie:
This little guy is packed with anti inflammatory goodness, protein, vitamins, omega 3 and all the deliciousness you can handle. Its perfect for this time of year where my body needs a little extra help getting race ready and fighting off seasonal sickness. I like to drink it either in the morning to start the day off right or after workouts to help with hydration replenishment/ repair.
⅔ cup frozen pineapple
handful of fresh spinach
1 tsp chia seeds
quarter sized chunk of peeled fresh ginger
your favorite protein powder (optional)*
½ cup cucumber
1 cup orange juice
Throw it all into a blender** and enjoy
* If you do use protein, use a little less frozen fruit and more juice because it will thicken your smoothie
**I use a magic bullet blender so this recipe is single serving, but you can add more to make some for your friends
