Running on the beach

I went to Florida for Christmas and one of the things I really wanted to experience was running on the beach whether during the sunrise or sunset. I didn’t think sunset was a good idea for my body since I would be using all my energy laying on a beach all day and I could be a bit dehydrated. I picked sunrise and woke up early, of course once I got there I realized the sun didn’t rise on that side if it set there. Oh well, it was still really cool to be there before anyone else and see fellow runners enjoying their morning. I picked a spot down the beach that I thought looked like a good distance to turn around at and started. I couldn’t believe how different it was. The slant of the sand really played a factor on my calf muscles. When I turned around and started running on the opposite leg I realized how much effort I was putting into it. My pace was slower because of this but it didn’t matter. I really just wanted to enjoy the run and atmosphere. Once I was done I walked around and saw a bunch of starfish. It really was quite the experience, I wish I could do it every morning.

P.S. Good luck to everyone with the New Years resolution gym goers. I challenge you to introduce yourself and encourage them or give them some pointers. This will help them make it more of a lifestyle then a short term goal.
